Cast of Sylvia Nov 2007The Zurich Comedy Club (ZCC) has earned the title 'Home of English-speaking theatre in Zurich since 1954'. We have performed some 140 plays in English since then - from comedies to Shakespeare. The ZCC is among the leading English-speaking drama groups in Switzerland.
The Zurich Comedy Club is a group of English-speakers, though by no means exclusively native English-speakers, from around the world and around Switzerland, who meet most weeks to read, discuss, practise and perform theatre plays - both dramas and comedies. At least twice a year we stage a major production for the public when we often attract audiences in excess of 400 people at each performance.

The only pre-requisites for membership are that you must speak and understand English and, for speaking parts in readings and on stage, you should have clear English diction without a strong accent, so you are easily understood.

The meaning of our name has changed somewhat since the Comedy Club was formed in 1954, long before the concept of present-day stand-up comedy, which we are not. We are a 100% amateur, 100% self-funded group performing all kinds of theatre - predominantly, but by no means exclusively, comedy.
