First staged in 1892, 'Lady Windermere's Fan' was Wilde's first great stage success. The plot is centred round the arrival of a mysterious woman hoping to break into London's society. Lady Windermere learns from a friend that Lord Windermere is spending a great deal of time with a certain Mrs. Erlynne, and fearing that he is being unfaithful to her, she decides that their marriage is at an end. Then, in an act of striking generosity, Mrs. Erlynne protects Lady Windermere's reputation and the truth about trust and loyalty are ironically revealed.

The play is a tale of confusion and misinterpretation with Wilde's brilliant wit woven throughout the dialogue - guaranteeing an evening of classic entertainment.

BackstageWith a cast of 15, all of whom needed extensive makeup costumes and props, backstage was never going to be a quiet place - and it wasn't.
Lord Windermere (Dimitri Aivaliotis) gets his hair and make up fixed, while two of the back-stage crew (Joanne Ralph and Ann Fuchs) sort out the props.
It's curlers for Rosalie the maid (Alexandra Ebly) and Mr Dumby (John Gysin) waits his turn for make up
Lord Darlington (Peter Gee) gets the final tonsorial touch, while Lord Augustus Lorton (Paul Bilton) has his nightly appointment with the glue pot and moustache.
