What's Involved & How You Can Help

A brief overview of what's to be done
We produce at least two shows per year, in May and November. Offering our loyal public two quality plays annually requires dedication and the willingness of our members to invest some of their spare time. Here is how you can help us promote the thespian spirit.

Set Preparation

One Saturday in October and one Saturday in April before each production, we invite our members to come out to the countryside in Canton Aargau to sand, paint and hammer. There we prepare the set for the upcoming production; of course with coffee breaks and time for pizza and beer while the paint dries!

Theater im Seefeld

On a Saturday a week before opening, we get in the theatre in the morning to tack down the carpet on the stage floor, bring the lighting and sound equipment up from the cellar and prepare for the delivery of the set that we painted in Schafisheim.

We haul, push, pull, hammer and drill. Suddenly, there is the start of a play setting! Here again, please join us for a few hours in the morning or afternoon or both to build the set on stage and get to know us and how we work.

Food and drink are provided and there are laughs as always.

Tech Week

Everyone plans a few hours one or two week nights, to help put the finishing touches to the set (touch-up painting, nailing, gluing), to focus and gel the lights and play with the sound effects! We divide up the work and get things done.

Backstage Crews

We usually run for nine performances for which we need people to run the sound equipment, lighting board, work backstage with props, costumes and make-up. Crew members attend final rehearsals to learn the cues and become familiar with the equipment in order to work behind the scenes for some of the nine performances. It is fun to see how the show and the audience differ each night.

Front of House

Club members also serve as hosts and hostesses for our public. We check in their coats and bags, serve drinks and direct them to their seats. On each evening we need a team of several members to help out. You can choose to serve one or more of the nine performances and get to know some club members and our public better.

On Stage

Of course, if you are interested in acting, by working behind the scenes on a production, you will get to know the various members who cast readings and plays.

Come along and see

We look forward to seeing you on Monday evenings in the audience and on stage. And, we sincerely hope to see you working side-by-side with the rest of the members making theatre happen at the theatre. If you want more information or clarification just email us and ask.
